John Lewis’s new Chelmsford store, the retailer’s first in Essex, will focus primarily on fashion and beauty.
The shop on Bond Street opened on 29 September and will house brands including Ralph Lauren, Whistles, Finery London and John Lewis’s new own-brand womenswear label, Modern Rarity.
The Chelmsford branch will have the largest beauty hall of all of John Lewis’s small full-line department stores at 7,900 sq ft, with 14 beauty counters including Mac, Charlotte Tilbury and Nars.
The new shopping and leisure development in the heart of the city anchored by John Lewis offering around 13,000 square metres (139930 sq ft) of retail /restaurant opportunities. The development will provide Chelmsford with a vibrant new shopping environment that will cater for the needs of its thriving, affluent catchment. The combination of this open air shopping environment, riverside restaurants, cinema and public space will ensure that Bond Street complements the heritage of Chelmsford, whilst creating a fresh and contemporary retail offer that attracts aspirational brands currently under-represented in the city.
The development will feature:
• 20 double height retail units offering a range of unit sizes
• Riverside restaurants with outside seating
• Public space
• A new multiscreen digital cinema
• 275 space underground car park
Bond Street is located at the heart of the city centre, and is positioned to link directly into the existing prime retailing pitch on the High Street. It also benefits from its proximity to a number of supplementary car parks, which provide in excess of 2,500 car parking spaces.
