A new ‘mobile friendly’ library catalogue has been launched to help people enjoy Essex Libraries on the go.
The new catalogue has been developed with help from library users with an aim of being easier to access on all devices – including tablet computers and smart phones.
The new system has been progressed over a number of months using customer feedback to make the process of checking your account, ordering a book or accessing other services as easy as possible.
It offers easy access to eBooks and eMagazines which can be downloaded onto your smart phone, PC or tablet.
Tailored reading lists are also available for different age groups.
In response to user comments, changes have been made to how customers search for items, view search results and access help pages.
Cllr Anne Brown, Essex County Council Cabinet Member for Corporate, Communities and Customers, said: “By talking to our library customers about what kind of resource would be of use to them, we were able to make sure that the new catalogue is tailored to their needs and that it offers the best possible service.
"It is also encouraging to know that the catalogue has been specifically designed to compatibly work with mobile devices, which reflects the habits of many Essex residents.”
